Spencerport residents have voted, approving the $102.5 million budget for 2025-26 and narrowly defeating, by 20 votes, proposition 2 to authorize the use of reserves to purchase two EV buses. We appreciate our community for approving the budget, and the outcome for proposition 2 means we must now determine our next steps to accomplish this legislative mandate.
A total of 1,163 Spencerport School District residents voted this year, with the following results:
- Proposition 1: the 2025-26 budget of $102,511,478 was approved by voters with 626 in favor (54.2%) and 530 opposed (45.8%)
- Proposition 2: authorization to use up to $500,000 in capital reserves for two Electric Vehicle bus purchases was defeated by 20 votes, with 570 in favor (49.1%) and 590 opposed (50.9%)
Voters elected two incumbents in the uncontested race for the Board of Education, and they are:
- Megan Sarkis, receiving (897); and
- Leah Brown, receiving (850) votes.
“On behalf of the entire school district and board of education, I want to express our sincere gratitude to the community,” said Superintendent Ty Zinkiewich. “Your investment in our schools and students is deeply appreciated and will make a meaningful difference in the education we provide. Thank you.”
