SCHOOL NEWS: 

Attention all students: 
Wednesday October 12th is PSAT Day. All students in grades 9-11 must arrive by 7:15 am and report to their testing room. Room assignments will be posted on posters around the building before the test date.
9th graders: Please bring your fully charged Chromebook, drink, calculator and a snack. You will be taking the digital PSAT 9. 
10th & 11th graders: Please bring a pencil, drink, calculator and snack. You will be taking the pencil and paper PSAT 10/11. 
12th graders: There will be no classes for seniors this day. Please take the day to present your capstone project, attend capstone office hours in the Cafeteria, work on college application materials and/or participate in a college visit. 
 
Attention all Students: The Homecoming Dance will be held on October 28th from 7:00-10pm in the Cafeteria. If you would like to bring an outside guest to the dance, please see your grade level Google Classroom for the permission slip or see Mr. Orsini in Room 235. Permission slips must be approved prior to purchasing your guest's ticket. 
 
This is a friendly reminder that students that maintain a locker must use a lock on it. All lockers without a lock will be bolted at the end of the week.
 
Let us put YOU in the spotlight! Auditions for the South Windsor High School Tenor/Bass Choir Understaffed will be held  on October 18th at 6:30 pm in Room 4. If you're interested join the Google Classroom for audition materials- 53mkmd7.
 
Auditions for the award-winning "Spectrum Band" will be held on October 20th from 2pm to 4 pm in Room 3. We need drummers, Bass players, Guitarists, Alto Saxes, Tenor Saxes, Bari Saxes, Keyboard players, Trumpets and Trombones! Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it! All are welcome to the first ever TEDx event at SWHS on Thursday, October 6th in the Auditorium. The speakers will be discussing economic inequality through areas such as affordable housing, healthcare, computer, and data science. Please RSVP at www.tedxsouthwindsor.com. Refreshments provided.

FBLA's 3rd meeting is today Thursday October 6th, right after school in Room 125. 
 
Unified for Underprivileged Girls is hosting its first fundraiser of the year. Come enjoy delicious food at a local soup and bread shop at 100 Hemlock Avenue in South Windsor on October 7th from 4-8 pm  and help raise money for underprivileged girls in Kenya. 
 
Attention Interact members: Reminder, today is our whole club meeting for October at 2:05pm in the back of the Media Center. We have new volunteering events to sign up for! See you there!

ATHLETICS:

Join SWHS Field Hockey for its yearly Pink Out Home Game on Tuesday, October 11th at 3:30pm. Bake sale proceeds will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation and raffle proceeds will benefit the Booster Club.
