Curriculum
Sassarini Elementray School follows California State and Sonoma Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) guidelines. The school district has adopted content standards in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. We utilize multiple measures of assessment in both Language Arts and Mathematics. These assessments determine whether students have met or exceeded grade level standards. They also inform teachers about individual students needs and strengths.
Language Arts
SVUSD has adopted the McGraw Hill "Wonders" language arts program. Wonders is a comprehensive literacy program that provides a wealth of research-based print and digital resources. Wonders provides a strong foundation in early literacy skills, access to fiction and nonfiction texts, as well as a writing component. The Wonders program also includes Wonders for English Learners, an English Language Development program, as well as WonderWorks, a literacy intervention program.
Math
SVUSD has adopted the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum. Bridges is a comprehensive math curriculum that implements the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics in a manner that is rigorous, engaging, and accessible to all learners. The curriculum focuses on developing students’ deep understandings of mathematical concepts, proficiency with key skills, and ability to solve complex and novel problems. Bridges blends direct instruction, structured investigation, and open exploration.
