Susan Penrod is starting her fourth year with the Seaside School District. She served as the Assistant Superintendent, before being appointed Superintendent effective July 1, 2020. Before coming to Seaside, Susan worked as an Elementary Principal and Instructional Curriculum Administrator for Eugene School District. Over the past twenty years, Susan served as a Teacher, School Counselor, Instructional Coach and Administrator in both Oregon and Illinois.

Susan earned her master’s degree and administrative licensure in Educational Leadership and Policy from Portland State University; she received her education licensure from Western Oregon University, with endorsements in English Language Arts and Social Studies, and a B.S. in Psychology from Willamette University. She is currently working towards her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. Susan was the first person in her family to graduate from college. She was awarded Principal of the Year in 2014 for Lane County.

Throughout her career, Susan has been dedicated to instructional improvement. She has successfully lead two low-performing schools in Portland and Eugene through the improvement process.

In addition to her duties as Superintendent, Susan serves on the Board of Directors for Seaside Rotary and Rotary Foundation.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Early Child Care and Education Advisory Board and the Regional Early Childhood Education Committee.  Susan has recently become a member of the Clatsop County Affordable Housing Task Force in an effort to provide more housing opportunities for workers relocating to the North Coast.

Susan is a Native Oregonian and grew up in Salem. She attended K-12 public schools in the Salem-Keizer School District.

Susan and her husband Curt live in Gearhart. They have two children, Mason and Claire, who are starting their careers after college. In her free time, Susan enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and traveling.

Susan Penrod está en su cuarto año en el Distrito Escolar de Seaside. Se desempeñó como Superintendente Asistente, antes de ser nombrada Superintendente en julio de 2020.  Antes de venir a Seaside, Susan trabajó como Directora de Primaria y Administradora de Currículo de Instrucción para el Distrito Escolar de Eugene. En los últimos veinte años, Susan se desempeñó como maestra, consejera escolar, entrenadora de instrucción y administradora tanto en Oregon como en Illinois.

Susan obtuvo su maestría y licenciatura administrativa en Liderazgo Educativo y Política de la Universidad Estatal de Portland; recibió su licencia de educación de la Universidad de Western Oregon, con avales en artes del lenguaje inglés y estudios sociales, y un B.S. en psicología de la Universidad de Willamette. Actualmente está trabajando para obtener su Doctorado en Liderazgo Educativo de la Universidad de Concordia. Susan fue la primera persona en su familia en graduarse de la universidad. Fue galardonada directora del año en 2014 en el Condado de Lane.

A lo largo de su carrera, Susan se ha dedicado a la mejora de la enseñanza. Ella ha dirigido con éxito dos escuelas de bajo rendimiento en Portland y Eugene a través del proceso de mejora.

Además de sus deberes como Superintendente, Susan es miembro de la Junta Directiva de Seaside Rotary y de la Fundación Rotaria. También es miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Junta Asesora de Educación y Cuidado Infantil Temprano y del Comité Regional de Educación Infantil Temprana. Susan se ha convertido recientemente en miembro del Grupo de trabajo de vivienda asequible del condado de Clatsop en un esfuerzo por brindar más oportunidades de vivienda para los trabajadores que se mudan a la costa norte.

Susan es oriunda de Oregón y creció en Salem. Asistió a escuelas públicas K-12 en el distrito escolar de Salem-Keizer.

Susan y su esposo Curt viven en Gearhart. Tienen dos hijos, Mason y Claire, que están comenzando sus carreras después de la universidad. En su tiempo libre, Susan disfruta pasar tiempo con familiares y amigos, estar al aire libre y viajar.
