Saint Jo ISD's One-to-One Initiative
Saint Jo ISD Technology One-to-One
Saint Jo ISD Board of Trustees and Administration are committed to preparing our students for the future to the greatest extent possible. With that in mind, the board of trustees provides Apple iPads and Google HP Chromebooks for the district. Each student in grades 7 – 12 is issued a Chromebook, and each student in grades 3 – 6 is issued an iPad. These students (grades 3 – 12) will take their devices with them throughout the school day, as well as home each day to complete their educational tasks. Students in grades K – 2 are each issued a classroom designated iPad, which stays in the classroom at all times. We are excited about the opportunities the devices offer for our students and teachers: enriched learning and instruction through digital curriculum, increased student engagement, college and career readiness, and acquisition of 21st century skills.
In order for students to be issued a device, a parent or guardian must read and complete all required forms. In addition, students in grades 3-12 must submit their annual usage fee of $40 per device ($25 per device for free and reduced families). Topics covered in the device handbooks include: device care, warranty/damage prevention, student responsibilities, parent responsibilities, expectations, and a question and answer session. As you prepare for the coming year with back-to-school supplies, the district is recommending a backpack with a padded device section for those students that will be transporting devices back and forth, as care will be the student’s responsibility. Though the district hopes that all families will take advantage of this opportunity we understand that some will not.
