    Sixth Grade Mathematics is a mathematics course that is designed to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. The students will use the skills they learn from the problem solving model to reason abstractly and strategically in forming conclusions.


    7th Grade Mathematics - Mr. Todd Lee (tolee@usd404.org)

    Seventh-Grade Mathematics is a course in which students will build on prior knowledge of mathematics and learn to utilize mathematics to make sense of and solve problems.  This is a very critical course that bridges the gap between basic mathematical skills and the most abstract topics of algebra and beyond.  Particular focus is placed on ratios, proportions, fractions, decimals, percent, area, surface area, volume, data distributions, and basic expressions and linear equations.


    7th Grade Pre-Algebra - Mrs. Laura Rawlins (lrawlins@usd404.org)

    Pre-Algebra is a mathematics course that is designed to solidify foundational mathematics concepts while fostering the algebraic thinking that is required to be successful in Algebra I.  Topics of study will include the Cartesian coordinate plane, graphing linear equations, and solving simple algebra equations.  Understanding how to utilize basic algebra as a tool to represent and solve a variety of problems and will be emphasized.  Additional topics to be addressed from the seventh-grade standards will include geometry, ratio and proportion, and data distributions.

    Pre-Algebra is a mathematics course that is designed to solidify foundational mathematics concepts while fostering the algebraic thinking that is required to be successful in Algebra I.  Understanding how to utilize basic algebra as a tool to represent and solve a variety of problems and will be emphasized.  Topics to be addressed will include expressions and equations, including bivariate data, linear equations, systems of linear equations; functions and quantitative relationships; two- and three-dimensional space and figures, including distance, angle, similarity, congruence, and the Pythagorean Theorem.  


    8th Grade Algebra I - Mrs. Laura Rawlins (lrawlins@usd404.org)

    Eighth-Grade Algebra I is an advanced middle school mathematics course which is designed to lay a foundation and enable students to eventually take upper-level mathematics courses to include college-type math courses while still in high school.  Topics of study will include expressions, linear and nonlinear equations and inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities, polynomials, radical and rational functions, and data analysis.
