Thank you for reading interventionists Mrs. Mills and Ms. Goode at Fairfield Court Elementary. They help lead and support reading with love and a sense of urgency. Their hard work and dedication are evident! Thank you to Mrs. Natasha Henderson, assistant principal at Fairfield Court Elementary. She leads with love and is always solution-oriented. She knows the community and is always willing to help in the classroom.  

Huge shout out and even bigger thank you to Ms. Fanning at Lois Harrison-Jones Elementary! She has created a safe, loving environment for our sweet kiddos during their first year of school. Seeing the love and support she gives each child when we visit with our child during school is beyond amazing! Even after school hours, when she sees her students, she is enthused and excited to see them. We are the luckiest to have Ms. Fanning as our Kindergarten teacher! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Shout-out to MLK Middle School staff, security, and the VCU Excell Program for supporting the MLK Preschool Tiny Titans with our December Literacy Family event on Wednesday. We served about 100 students and families with dinner and literacy resources. It was a huge success and lots of fun — many thanks to our MLK Preschool team, who participated and volunteered.

A big shout-out to Chanae McLaughlin for leading the incredible Dope Dads Dopest Sweater event at Mary Scott Preschool! Our dads had a blast reading stories to our students and enjoying craft activities in every classroom. Thank you for making it such a special day! A huge round of applause to Sonata Koger for guiding our staff through the 12 Days 'til Holiday Break activities! You've brought joy to our school, from the Build a Snowman contest to the peanuts, popcorn, and Nutcracker day. Thank you for making our days festive and fun! A big shout-out to Crystal Jones, Sonata Koger, Chanae McLaughlin, Victoria Boyd, Diane Holsinger, Ernestine Mills, and Kellie Lorish for bringing holiday cheer to Mary Scott Preschool! Your efforts to create a festive atmosphere with beautiful lights and decorations have brightened the season for our staff and students. Thank you for spreading joy across the campus!  

Ms. McCowin deserves a shout-out. She is so nice, loving and considerate, and all the students love her at River City Middle School.

Shout-out to Ms. Walker, Ms. Mitchell, and the administration at MLK Middle School for rolling out the "Titan Treats" student-led enterprise run by the students in their intensive support classrooms. They baked and sold cookies during student lunches and were sold out in no time. Thank you all for your support and willingness to provide this learning opportunity to the students.

Shout-out to Ms. Johnson, Mr. Green, and the administration at MLK Middle School for rolling out the "Eat-n-Teach” snack cart student-led enterprise run by the students in intensive-support classrooms. They organized, stocked, and sold drink and snack items to teachers during their planning time, and they are making plans to purchase T-shirts for the students to wear during their work hours. Thank you all for your support and willingness to provide this learning opportunity to the students. What perfect timing to roll this out during Inclusive Schools Week!  

A huge shout-out to Ms. Ramsay from the testing department. She is always calm and level-headed. She is super helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate her and all she offers the STCs.

I want to express my gratitude for the many teachers and staff my daughter interacts with daily at JB Fisher Elementary. From her classroom teacher, Mrs. Golden, and her wonderful student teacher, Ms. Raymond, to the Encore teachers, Ms. Stone, Mrs. Beekman, Ms. B., and Coach Burton. As well as the amazing administration of Mr. Samuels and Ms. Blount and staff like Ms. Norrel, Ms. Kuhl, and Mr. Jackson. And so many others! She loves going to school where every single adult she comes in contact with knows her name and greets her with a smile, hug, fist bump, or smile. She is already lamenting about the two weeks of winter break and how much she will miss her Fisher family.

Sending a special shout-out to all the incredible, dedicated, compassionate, and inspiring teachers across our district who make a difference daily. You don’t just teach; you ignite curiosity, build confidence, and empower our students to reach their fullest potential. Your unwavering commitment to excellence and passion for education shapes the future in ways that words cannot fully capture. Thank you for the impact you make in our schools, our community, and the lives of every student you touch!

Ms. Manning has been a great teacher in my son's academics. She’s very patient with my son and also goes above and beyond to make sure my son performs well in 8th grade. She is very communicative, and I wish her many more years of success. Thanks, Ms. Anderson, for putting on an amazing dance recital. We appreciate all the hard work you put in with the students! Our daughter has enjoyed taking your class this semester.

Shout-out to Mr. Wayne Chambers, my co-health & PE teacher at G.H. Reid. He just started recently and has a calming presence with the students and myself.

Sharon Bryant and Valerie Briggs deserve shouts out for the consistency they provide daily at the Richmond Success Academy. Each is found in the main office through rain, snow, and Covid! Both have been recognized for perfect attendance! These angels’ consistency remains the backbone of this institution. They greet each visitor to the office. They constantly answer phones, diffusing difficult situations. They always know who to call and where to call to find a solution to our problems. Last week, they saw some of our students needed coats, and they gave them coats. Hungry or cold, they take care of our students. Students quickly recognize that the office staff makes this their short-term home. We love these ladies! We pray they get well-deserved rest over the break and know how much they are appreciated.

Big shout-out to MLK’s Principal Dabney for doing many great things for her staff. I want to give a big shout-out to Leena-Tashaun Johnson, a former MLK student under Principal Dabney, for giving back by becoming an instructional assistant at MLK and sending a big shout-out to Mrs. Kersey, Mrs. Thompson, and Mrs. Palmer-Stith at Amelia Street for all that they do.

Shout-out to our incredible second-grade teacher, Ms. Roberts, who brings enthusiasm, cultural relevance, and boundless joy into the classroom daily! Her self-awareness and dedication to creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment inspire us all. Thank you for making learning fun, meaningful, and memorable for our students!

Huge shout-out to our amazing reading interventionist, Ms. Hendrickson, who wears many hats with grace and excellence! Her meticulous organization, flexibility, and dedication never go unnoticed, from supporting students and staff to coordinating testing. Thank you for being the glue that keeps so much running smoothly while always putting students first!

Huge shout-out to the amazing teachers and staff at Woodville Elementary who attended the after-school professional learning session. Your engagement, enthusiasm, and active participation truly made it a success! Special appreciation goes to Quinett Bowers and Lashondra Crenshaw, who volunteered at the end of the session to demonstrate how they plan to use the strategies to create engaging instruction, check student understanding, and leverage real-time data to inform their teaching.

Shout-out to the Dads of Preschool and Early Childhood (DOPE Dads) who dressed in tacky sweaters and did STEM projects with our rising stars at Mary Scott Preschool!
