Good evening Huguenot Families,
I hope everyone is having a pleasant evening and enjoying some college hoops. Marking Period 3 is coming to a close this week. We will have Caregiver/Parent-Teacher conferences this week. Teachers must submit grades for Marking Period 3 by Tuesday, March 24. Teachers will contact the caregivers of students who are currently earning Ds and Fs if they have not done so already. Printed report cards will be issued in homerooms this Friday before Spring Break. Even though Spring Break is almost here, it is extremely important for the sake of testing, testing prep, and seat time/attendance that every student continues to attend school EVERY DAY this week. Here are tonight's important messages:
SOL Writing Test Schedule for This Week
Here is the Writing SOL testing schedule for the week:
Monday - 11th grade make-up day (if you are an 11th grader and missed testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of last week, this is your day to make it up) 11th graders who are scheduled to make-up their test this week have been sent a separate message on ParentSquare from Ms. Kelley this evening.
Tuesday - 11th-grade makeup day if you have one part missing; this is your last day to make up your test.
10th graders - Part 1 (multiple choice) for 10th-grade students currently enrolled in English 10 with Mrs. Carden, Mrs. Frescoln, or Dr. Miller, Tuesday is your first day for testing.
Wednesday - Part 2 (short paper/ essay) for 10th graders in Mrs. Carden, Mrs. Frescoln, or Dr. Miller for 2nd Semester.
Thursday - 10th-grade makeup day
As the testing window begins, please remember that students may not wear headwear of any kind during testing and may not have any communication/smart devices on them while testing.
Testing Prep
Tutoring/test prep can now be done virtually and not just in-person after school. Please click this document to see specific tutoring times/locations/links by subject areas. We will continue to add tutoring opportunities as they become available. We also encourage students to ask their teachers about tutoring times that they or their colleagues may be offering in specific areas. ***Students must have their Chromebook Cameras on with their face showing during tutoring, or they will be dropped from the sessions.
March 26- Caregiver/Parent Conferences
Caregiver/Parent Conferences will take place on March 26 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Teachers will be in the building to meet in person; however, you can also schedule a virtual meeting during this window. If you would like to schedule an appointment during Caregiver/Parent Conferences, please reach out to your child's teacher(s).
Report Cards Mailed Home Friday
Report cards for Marking Period 3 will be mailed home this Friday. Grades should be visible on Aspen by Thursday night, when Parent/Caregiver conferences take place.

Flexible Instruction Time
Students in need of Flexible Instruction Time (FIT) to recover absences can stay after school for HSS Academy Mon-Thurs, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Students should report to the cafeteria at dismissal, then go to one of the classrooms for tutoring. Transportation is provided.
Dr. Mayo, Acting Substitute Assistant Principal
Our 9th-grade assistant principal, Ms. Millner, is currently out of the building. Until her return, Dr. Craig Mayo will serve as acting administrator at Huguenot High School. Dr. Mayo brings a wealth of experience as a veteran administrator in Richmond Public Schools. Dr. Mayo will be assisting our dean of students with supervision and discipline in addition to serving as the temporary administrator for the 9th grade until Ms. Millner returns.
Junior Senior Prom Tickets Now On Sale
Tickets for the 2026 Huguenot High School Junior/Senior Prom, Arabian Nights, are now available through GoFan. Prom will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Four Points by Sheraton Richmond (9901 Midlothian Turnpike).

Each student’s Student ID number will serve as the access code to purchase their ticket.
Students planning to bring a guest must first submit a guest form for approval by their grade-level administrator or Dr. Massa. Once approved, the student will receive a separate access code to purchase the guest ticket.
We look forward to a memorable evening celebrating our junior and senior Falcons.
Dress Code
While spring has not officially started, we continue to have unseasonably warm weather at the start of March. Please make sure you review the dress code with your child. The following information is the dress code quoted from S.C.O.R.E. (The RPS Student Code of Responsible Ethics):
A student’s attire and appearance should not be indecent or cause health and/or safety problems in the educational environment.
Students MUST wear:
• Tops and Bottoms, or the equivalent (dresses, etc.)
• Shoes (sandals are permissible, but appropriate athletic shoes must be worn in PE class, and additional caution should be taken by students at recess.) **The School board of the city of Richmond and/or Richmond Public Schools is not responsible for any injuries that may occur due to students who wear improper shoes.
• Clothing that covers the genitalia, buttocks, and torso with opaque materials
Students MAY wear:
• Clothing with commercial or athletic slogans
• Fitted pants (yoga pants, leggings, and skinny jeans)
• Ripped jeans without underwear exposed
• Students wearing clothing that does not match the students' perceived gender is not a violation
Students MAY NOT wear:
• Visible underwear or bathing suits of similar designs
• Clothing using images or language depicting drug use, alcohol, any illegal activities, threats, or discriminatory slogans
• Clothing that includes hate speech, profanity, or pornography
• Images and/or language that create a hostile or intimidating educational environment based on identity or class
• Hats, caps, scarves, sweatbands, bandanas, facemasks, or head covers inside a school building except a.) when worn because of religious beliefs, b.) when worn as a matter of health or safety, c.) when worn in connection with a school-sponsored program *Facemask/coverings can be worn as directed by circumstances to include COVID 19, medical, etc.
Clear Backpacks
Students may only have a clear book bag when attending Richmond Public Schools. Students without clear bags will have their opaque bags confiscated. With spring sports starting, athletes may drop their sports bags in the bins when entering the building. With only a few months of school remaining, we are not out of clear backpack replacements; however, online retailers such as Amazon provide many different clear book bag options at different price points. Outside Food or Drink
This is a reminder that students may not bring outside food or drink into the school unless it has been packed for lunch away in their bookbag through morning arrival. (In other words, if it is purchased/packed before school and closed in their bookbags when entering school). Additionally, no drinks with removable lids that are unsealed or in glass containers are allowed. Students who are leaving the technical center and returning to school on their own may not bring outside food in the building when returning to the school.
Cell Phones
Cell phones and headphones must be off and away from the beginning to the end of the day (bell to bell). At Huguenot High School, students are required to place their cell phones in the hanging sleeves in each classroom during class time. Administrators are conducting instructional walkthroughs that also monitor proper cell phone sleeve placement in classrooms.
Outside Devices (Computers/Tables)
This is a reminder that iPads, computers, and tablets/devices other than Chromebooks are not allowed at school. Students who bring such devices may run the risk of confiscation.
