Children should not be without health insurance. If your child is not covered under a health insurance policy, consider Child Health Plus. This is a program free to many or with a slight fee depending on income. The Child Health Plus web site  https://www.health.ny.gov/health_care/child_health_plus/  provides a lot of information, including an application.
