Beyond
Words Dollar General School Library Relief Fund
Thompson Intermediate received a grant in the amount of
$30,000 to replace a portion of the fiction collection damaged by flood
waters from Hurricane Harvey. This award is in addition to the $20,000 grant
funding approved during the February 27, 2018 board meeting, totaling an
award amount of $50,000. |

Mental Health America (Center for School Behavioral Health)
The district has been awarded a grant from Mental Health America in the
amount of $50,000. The funds will be used to implement the In Home
Training/Telehealth Hybrid Demonstration project.
The In Home Training/Telehealth Hybrid Demonstration project will allow the
district to pair a Specialty Behavioral Health Specialist (SBHS) with at
least one primary care setting not currently providing behavioral healthcare.
Additionally, the SBHS will receive referrals from the district’s Behavioral
Response Team Specialists and provide a stepped care approach to therapy
utilizing telehealth technology and/or face-to-face in–home training. This
project will serve at least 30 participants.

Bush Foundation: Disaster Relief Grant
Thompson Intermediate has been awarded $70,000 from the
Laura Bush Foundation Disaster Relief Grant. The funds will allow Thompson
Intermediate School to replace the fiction books lost during Hurricane
Harvey. |

Harris County Department of Education: CASE Partnership Grant
Frazier Elementary has been awarded $30,000 from the
Harris County Department of Education. The funds will be used to provide
academic enrichment, through high-quality after-school programs, for a
minimum of 55 students at Frazier Elementary. |

Bridge
Up at Menninger Model Magic Grant
Bridge Up at Menninger selected the Special Programs
Dept. to receive a grant award in the amount of $80,000. The project, serving
1,400 students and 100 staff, will provide preventative (Tier 1) support and
targeted/individualized support to the Tier 2/3 students attending De Zavala
Middle and Miller Intermediate Schools. The project will enhance the
framework by implementing evidence-based programs; expand the framework by
embedding mental health, trauma, restorative practices, and kinesthetic
learning; support staff with coaching; and sustain the project through the
train-the-trainer model. |

Texas
Education Agency: 21st Century Community Learning Center, Cycle 10, Year 1
Pasadena Independent School District was
recently selected as a 21st Century Community Learning Center, Cycle 10
grantee by the Texas Education Agency to receive $1,500,000.
This grant will allow PISD to create community learning centers that
provide academic enrichment opportunities for students who attend high-need,
high-poverty, low-performing schools, to meet state and local student
standards in the core academic subjects. Funds will provide after-school
programs that extend learning opportunities for children and their families.
Schools involved are: Burnett, Kruse, Pomeroy, South Houston and Williams
Elementary schools, De Zavala, Roberts and Shaw Middle schools, and Miller
and Southmore Intermediate schools. |
