Demetria Herrea, a fourth-grade Elementary Bilingual Math teacher at Jessup Elementary, and Lauren Palos, a fourth-grade mathematics teacher at Stuchbery Elementary, have been named ConocoPhillips Teachers of the Month.
ConocoPhillips has teamed up with the Houston Astros to recognize six outstanding teachers in the Houston area during baseball season.
Through the selection process, teachers were nominated and subsequently chosen based on various criteria, such as dedication to educational achievement, use of traditional and non-traditional teaching resources, and commitment to academic advancement.
Upon selecting Herrera and Palos, the committee looked at numerous areas where they succeeded as teachers in Pasadena ISD.
They both demonstrated a commitment to excellence in bilingual teaching through mathematics, evidence of creativity and innovation in the classroom, and a willingness to ensure all students hit home runs.
Herrera has been acknowledged for her undying passion for educating the cultural push for bilingual education in the district, and her honoree celebration has just begun.
Fourth-grade teacher Lauren Palos has also been named Teacher of the Month for going above and beyond to guarantee mathematics plays a crucial role in her student's life.
Ms. Palos and Herrea have implemented various strategies, engaging collaborations and continuously elevating their curriculum, striving to make a significant difference in the lives of their students.
With this highly anticipated honor from ConocoPhillips and the Houston Astros for their outstanding teaching abilities, winning teachers receive several awards, including:
