Students and teachers from around Pasadena ISD are gearing up to celebrate College Week, November 16-20.
The purpose of this annual, week-long celebration is to encourage students to take an interest in attending college.
This year, due to COVID-related safety measures, one of the week’s major events, College Night, will be held virtually on November 17 at 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. In a typical year, the event, hosted by Pasadena ISD and Deer Park ISD, attracts hundreds of area students. College Night gives students an opportunity to talk with representatives from more than 80 colleges and universities to help them get a jump start on planning their future.
Individual campuses will also be joining in on the fun. For College Week at Pasadena High School, students can win prizes for taking part in various college-related activities such as completing a college application, completing a FAFSA form and participating in themed dress-up days. Students will also have the opportunity to attend virtual college presentations from Houston Baptist University, Stephen F. Austin, San Jacinto College and many others. At South Houston High School, students can participate in themed dress-up days such as Camo Day and College Colors, along with other activities, in hopes of winning various prizes.
