Pasadena Memorial High School recently held a special commencement ceremony for the two students who missed graduation, after their caravan of buses was involved in an accident on graduation night.

Recognizing the significance of the occasion, Superintendent of Schools Dr. DeeAnn Powell worked with PMHS administration to plan the event for Jocelyn Sifuentes and Rosa Zalazar, which included faculty, administration and the PISD Board of Trustees.

"Graduation is a great milestone for our students, one which Rosa and Jocelyn deserved to experience,” said PMHS Principal Jeremy Richardson. “We are thankful that we were able to come together as a Maverick Family to recreate the commencement ceremony and to experience this moment of celebration with these young ladies and their families."

The special ceremony, held at the Stanley J. Oakes Performing Arts Center, featured all the pomp and circumstance of a traditional graduation, with speeches from Class President Brady Chant, Salutatorian Mariano Garcia, Principal Richardson and Superintendent Powell.
