Thirty-eight marketing students throughout Pasadena ISD will advance to the DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) in Dallas, February 21-23, after recently competing at the regional competition.
DECA SCDC challenges students in various categories including Business Management & Administration, Marketing, Hospitality & Tourism and Finance.
Within specific guidelines and expectations, students compete in role-play or written events and are judged based on their proficiency in communication, knowledge and written skills.
Marketing teachers from across the district were unanimous in expressing pride in their students' accomplishments.
"This year's DECA chapter at Rayburn is composed of an excellent group of students that consistently exhibit exceptional leadership skills inside and outside of the classroom," said Rayburn High School Marketing teacher Charles Canales. "I have never seen a team that is so cohesive and supportive of one another."
"Dobie's DECA students are full of incredible leaders and future high achievers," added Dobie High School Marketing Co-op teacher Jeff McKnight.
"It's awesome to see our students develop lifelong professional traits that will help them be great candidates for any position in their future," said Memorial High School Career Prep Co-op teacher Tim Boyd.
