Rayburn High School Principal, Vanessa Reyes and Pasadena High School Principal, Laura Gomez flipped a coin at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium to determine the date of the Pride Bowl festivities.

The Pride Bowl began in 1964 when Pasadena and Rayburn faced each other for the first time. This annual match-up has evolved into a friendly rivalry where the winner takes home the “Pride Bowl” trophy and gains bragging rights for a year.

Rayburn won the coin toss; therefore, the traditional “Burn Sam” and “Burn Baldy” festivities will take place on Friday, November 5, 2021 at their respective campuses.

Rayburn’s events will kick-off at 5:30pm with a carnival and ends with the Burning of Baldy.

PHS will begin their festivities with a senior class bike ride that starts at 5:30am starting from a nearby Walmart to Pasadena High School.  After school, the carnival will begin at 4:30 pm featuring a live band, fun activities, food and ending with the Burning of Ole’ Sam.

Then on game day (Saturday), students from Rayburn will parade to the stadium and prepare to take on the Eagles at 2:00pm at Veteran’s Memorial stadium.
