Battle of the Books Club members read all 15 Sunshine State Young Readers Award books and then meet weekly to become experts on these books. A 6-member team is then chosen to represent Discovery in Orange County's Battle of the Books competition held each spring. Discovery's team placed 1st in the county in 2016 through 2019. The Battle of the Books Club is open to anyone that loves to read and is willing to read all 15 Sunshine State Young Readers Award books. The club meets every Wednesday morning in the Media Center from 8:40-9:25

Builders Club is a service learning club that works with the Kiwanis of East Orange County. Students build character and leadership skills through performing service related projects on campus. This prepares them to be active citizens and take ownership of the well-being of their community. Some of the activities members have done in the past include: collecting recycling on campus, helping to organize events for Red Ribbon Week, raising funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and collecting toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Chess Team and Board Game Club is a group of students interested in strategy, friendship, and fun! We meet once a week on Tuesdays (twice during tournament season) and play board games such as Ticket To Ride, Taboo, King of Tokyo, and many others—including, of course, chess! Students have the opportunity to participate in Chess Tournaments throughout the year, as well as attend a Tabletop Day celebration in the spring. No previous knowledge is necessary, and there is no attendance requirement. If it sounds fun, come on by room C115 from 4-5 on Tuesday!

Florida Junior Thespian Society is an honor drama club which builds character, confidence, and creativity. Our members are part of an international group of students who excel in technical and performance fields in middle school theatre. Each year our Drama Troupe competes at the District and State levels against other middle schools in our county and state in areas of acting and technical theatre. Our motto comes from Alexander Pope’s Essay on Man, “Act well your part; for therein all honor lies.” The club meets in the Drama room every 1st and 3rd Tuesday.
