Integrated Mathematics III
Integrated Mathematics III aims to apply and extend what students have learned in previous mathematics courses. Students extend their previous work with quadratics and polynomials to achieve a more general understanding of polynomials. Students also learn how to manipulate and transform different types of functions, including exponential functions. In Integrated Math III, exponential functions are considered over a domain of real numbers, necessitating work with fractional exponents. The logarithm is defined as the inverse of exponentiation and from this definition students consider the properties of logarithmic functions in addition to using them to solve for unknown exponents. Deepening their understanding of exponential and logarithmic functions, students segue into Pre-Calculus, which also expands upon basic trigonometric identities and functions learned in Integrated Mathematics II. Pre-Calculus is the first mathematics course at STEM in which students can earn college credits.
