Mr. Jeff Norton
Get to Know Mr. Norton
Thank you all for coming to Orientation. I am excited about another great school year!
I was born and raised in Plattsburgh, NY, and graduated from Seton Catholic Central School in 2004. I have one brother, Matt, and he and his wife, Erika, have two beautiful children; my niece, Vivien, who is 7, and my nephew, Tyler, who is 4. I attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, and completed my education at SUNY Plattsburgh, receiving a B.A. in Biology in 2008. I attended SUNY Plattsburgh for my Master’s Degree in Childhood Education and graduated in 2009. I was hired at Rouses Point Elementary in 2010 and am currently in my 14th year teaching kindergarten.
I played three sports in high school – soccer, basketball, and baseball. I continued to play baseball in college for both Skidmore College and SUNY Plattsburgh. I still play volleyball, soccer and baseball in various local leagues, in addition to officiating high school and college soccer as a member of the Clinton County Certified Soccer Officials Association and Elite College Soccer Referees Association. I also like to golf in the summer and ski in the winter when I get the chance!
In the summer, I work as a camp director at an excursion-based day camp. I worked as a counselor and director at YMCA Camp Jericho for 15 summers. I like to think I have both the best summer and school year jobs around! In addition to working as a kindergarten teacher, I also coach modified soccer and varsity baseball for NCCS. In the past, I coached basketball and volleyball for the district, as well as ran the K-Kids Program (Kiwanis Club) here at Rouses Point Elementary. I am also proud to be a Co-Director of our wonderful 6th Grade Outdoor Education Program at Lake Clear each June.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I hope we have a great partnership in working toward your student’s success this school year! Please feel free to reach out with any questions and/or concerns throughout the year. The best way to reach me is through ParentSquare or email. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we will see you very soon.
