Resource Room
-
The Resource Room is intended to assist and serve students who have been identified through the CSE with learning problems. Its primary services are to assist these students with successfully completing their regular education classes/requirements while at the same time, continue to remediate within their deficit areas. This work is designed to facilitate, encourage and assist the student in meeting their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals. In addition, it is commonplace that tasks also occurring within the Resource Room setting are pre-teaching, reviewing curriculum content or administering test accommodations. Resource Room services are provided in small groups of no more than five students that meet daily.
How can I help my child?
Your involvement outside of school can have a significant impact on your child’s performance at school. Your assistance and support is essential to ensure that your child perform to the best of their abilities. Here is a list of things you can do at home to help your son/daughter:
- Learning Environment - Try to find a quiet study area where your child can work without distractions.
- Monitoring Homework – Check your child’s agenda or have them share what they have in their agenda, and ask them how their assignments are going.
- Check Online Grades – School grades can be accessed through School Tools, directions will be sent home shortly.
- Role-Play - Let your child play the role of teacher and have them explain things or teach to you. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about what’s being discussed in class and also a way to help see if they are having difficulty with material.
- Teacher Communication – If you notice that your child is having a lot of difficulty with coursework or is spending large amounts of time on homework please notify me as soon as possible so I can help your child.
