Welcome to Our
Outdoor Education Program
The NCCS Outdoor Education Program is a four-day, three-night program for all 6th grade students. Our program is held at Camp Overlook in Owls Head, NY each June. The goal of our program is to promote outdoor education and character development. Students are immersed in nature as they rotate through learning stations. Outside presenters include organizations such as Trout Unlimited and Lake Champlain Basin Program. Sessions include taxidermy, owl pellet dissection, cooperative games, crafts, skits, making healthy choices, and managing stress. Adirondack storytellers/folk singers perform in the late afternoon/early evening providing interactive, entertaining educational sessions. This experience provides opportunities to build social connections with peers, school staff, chaperones, and administrators and to enhance self esteem.
