Supporting Students' Exploration of their Dreams Through Fine Arts Opportunities
Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation offers introductory and advanced art classes, art clubs, as well as integrating creative STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities throughout the K-12 experience. Students are able to explore their creativity and nurture their talent through various opportunities in band, drama, choir, theatre and more.
Opportunities to explore instruments begins in the elementary schools. Each music program explores a variety of instruments, singing opportunities, as well as performances. Beginning in middle school, students have the opportunity to join band or choir, and continue through high school.
Exploring art is integrated throughout the K-12 educational career. Advanced classes are available in Mt. Vernon High School for students to continue to develop their artistic talent.
Mt. Vernon High School has two drama performances each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. These musicals can crossover into other schools offering performing opportunities for younger students.
