ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS

I graduated from Vanderbilt with a BA in English and Political Science.  After practicing law for 6 years (JD Alabama), I left to pursue my true interest, teaching English.  After earning two MA degrees, the first in English and the second in Secondary Education (English), I taught freshmen composition and American literature at UAB and Bevill State Community College for a year.  In 1993, I returned to teach at my high school alma mater, MBHS. I am entering my 30th year of teaching.

In 2006 I received National Board Certification and then was recertified in 2016. Additionally, I have graded AP English Language and Composition exams for the College Board for 17 years. I am also the 2020 recipient of the Ann Pritchard Award for Excellence in Teaching.

I teach AP English Language and Composition and supervise the Writing Skills Center.

I am excited to teach your sons and daughters this year and hope to instill in them a love of English!
