Laura Owens is entering her second year as a teacher in Mountain Brook Schools, but she’s no stranger to the area or district. She grew up in Mountain Brook, going through the entire school system, graduating MBHS Class of 2008. Previously, she was an instructional aide at MBJH. Before moving back home, Ms. Owens spent five years teaching in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has been very happy to be back home, paying it forward within the school system that shaped who she is today.

She attended The University of Alabama, finishing her undergraduate degree in 2012 and her graduate degree in 2015. She has a Bachelor's in Journalism and has personally been yelled at by Nick Saban in a press conference. Her Masters is in Secondary Education English Language Arts. She’s additionally certified to teach Social Studies. 

Ms. Owens will be teaching 10th grade English College Prep and Collaborative and Muse with Creative Writing. In her free time, she obsesses over Alabama athletics, Harry Potter, and 5 Seconds of Summer.
