MBJH named Blue Ribbon School

  • September 30, 2014  The US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, has announced Mountain Brook Junior High as a recipient of the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools award. We are very excited and honored to receive such high recognition along with other exemplary schools in our nation.

There are 337 National Blue Ribbon Schools this year, and they are from 47 states, the U.S. Virgin islands, and Department of Defense Schools. Of those, 287 are public, 25 are K-12, 239 are elementary, 48 are high school, and 25 are middle school. Yes, we are one of 25 middle schools in our nation recognized for being an Exemplary High Performing School!

The best part of receiving this recognition is that it is a collective effort. Students, teachers, staff, administration, and parents from this year and previous years have made MBJH the great place that our state and national representatives recognized this morning. Receiving awards is always enjoyable, but it is much better when the honor represents an entire community’s effort.

Thanks to everyone who is so active in the MBJH school community!
