Trustees celebrate All-State recognitions and Teachers of the Year

On February 18. 2025, the Midlothian ISD Board of Trustees recognized student and staff success. Student Ambassadors from J.R. Irvin Elementary had the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. These future leaders are making us all MISD Proud!

All-State Band

The Texas Music Educators Association has named four Midlothian ISD students to the 5A All-State Band. The students were selected after a rigorous audition process. The MISD students are members of the Midlothian High School Panther Regiment. In February, the students traveled to San Antonio to attend the Texas Music Educators convention and participated in clinics before performing with musicians from around the state in the 2024-25 All-State Band concert held Feb. 12-15.

2025 MISD All-State Band Members are:

  • William Drake- Percussion (2nd time honoree)
  • Josiah Jones- Bassoon
  • Henry Maxwell- Percussion
  • Tate Newman- Tuba

TMEA sponsors the Texas All-State audition process to promote students’ dedication to their musical knowledge and skill and to encourage educators to support their students in this development. Beginning each fall, over 70,000 high school students across the state audition in their TMEA Region. Individuals perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. A select group of musicians advances to compete against musicians from other Regions in their TMEA Area. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles sponsored by the Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Divisions.

Volleyball Academic All-State

Two Midlothian ISD student-athletes in the volleyball program at Midlothian High School have earned Academic All-State status for maintaining a minimum numerical GPA of 94 throughout high school in grades 9-12. Balancing academic responsibilities with the demands of athletics can be challenging, and MISD acknowledges the dedication and hard work these student-athletes have shown in both areas. Their commitment to excellence in the classroom, alongside their athletic achievements, deserves special recognition.

2025 MISD Volleyball Academic All-State students are:

  • Brooklyn Humphrey
  • Brooklyn Wilhoite

2024-25 Teachers of the Year

Annually, MISD schools recognize and celebrate quality teaching through the district's Campus Teacher of the Year program. Staff at each school nominate and select a campus teacher of the year based on their passion for teaching, innovation in the classroom and ability to inspire others. These educators represent the district as Campus Teachers of the Year for one year and are invited to represent MISD at various district events. These educators are eligible for consideration to represent the district in the Regional Teacher of the Year program as part of the Texas Teacher of the Year selection process. One MISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and one MISD Secondary Teacher of the Year will be selected to advance to the regional program.
