MISD Names New Executive Director of Specialized Learning

Midlothian ISD has named Shannon Thompson as the new Executive Director of Specialized Learning. Thompson has served in Midlothian ISD for twenty years. She began her career in the district as a teacher at Mt. Peak Elementary from 2000-2009. In 2009 she moved to Keene ISD, where she served as an assistant principal at Keene Elementary for three years and as principal for one year. In 2013, Thompson joined the MISD family once again and served as principal of J.R. Irvin Elementary (2013 - 2016) and Mt. Peak Elementary (2016 - 2020). 

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Specialized Learning Department and enhance the services we provide. I look forward to continue building on the relationships I have made and forging new ones with all stakeholders. It is my pleasure to serve the students, staff, and parents in MISD through specialized learning services." 

 

Thompson received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Tarleton State University. She went on to earn her Master of Education Administration from the University of North Texas.
