29 students earn CNA certification

Congratulations to nine Midlothian Heritage students and 20 Midlothian High School students who earned their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licenses during the fall semester through the district’s Career and Technical Education Health Science Program. The MISD Health Science Pathway provides students the opportunity to explore the healthcare industry while focusing on medical and lab procedures, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control. Students participate in clinical rotations at local hospitals and have the choice to enroll in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, and Phlebotomy to obtain an industry certification while still in high school. The experience helps further their understanding of the medical field and prepares them for careers in the medical profession before graduating from high school. 

The opportunities afforded to Midlothian ISD Health Science students are made possible through the partnerships the district has with Midlothian Methodist Medical Center, which serves as a clinical Practicum site, and Legend Oaks in Waxahachie and Navaro College to provide the CNA rotation classes for our MISD students.
