Step 3: Parent contact/conference
Step 4: Detention and a parent contact
Step 5: Referral to administration for repeat Class I violations and initial Class II and Class III offenses (Madison City Schools Code of Conduct)
Severe disruptions or behaviors will result in an immediate administrative referral.
Grading Policy
(MCS Policy)
60% = Assessments (Tests, Essays, Projects)
40% = Daily Grades (Quizzes, Homework, Classwork, and Participation)
All work/steps must be shown to ensure full credit on any assignment. Without documentation showing how the problems were solved, credit may not be given, even if answers are correct.
Error Analysis Policy
All module tests are point-based and will be accompanied by a module review beforehand. Most questions are valued at either 2 or 4 points. Partial credit worth half of the question points is awarded for some correct work agreed upon by teachers. After each module test is graded, students may complete error analysis to analyze and correct mistakes. Error analysis is a collaborative opportunity where students can work together in assigned groups and use any class materials (notes, practice, examples, etc.) to make corrections to their test. The tests will be regraded after submission, and students can earn back up to half of the credit they lost. Both the original test score and the error analysis score will be posted in PowerSchool for documentation, but the original test score will be dropped.
Late Work Policy
All work is expected to be turned in complete and on time. Late work will be accepted with a 25% deduction in points. No late work will be accepted after the end of the nine weeks. If an extension is needed due to an extenuating circumstance, please work with the teacher to decide on an adjusted due date. Communication is required to secure all possible points if an assignment is to be turned in late.
Make-up Work/ Test Policy
Students with excused absences will be allowed to make-up all work within three days of returning
to school. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for make-up work. Students should check
Schoology for daily work, then ask the teacher for clarification if needed. Work that is not
made up will become a zero (including quizzes/tests which need to be done in the classroom).
Technology
And Cell Phones
Students should bring their MCS chromebooks and chargers to class each day. Teachers monitor student activity and participation; however, students are responsible for their activity on school-issued devices and using their MCS accounts. Student laptops should not be hard-wired to the network or have print capabilities. Use of discs, flash drives, jump drives, or other USB devices will not be allowed on Madison City computers. Neither the teacher, nor the school is responsible for broken, stolen, or lost laptops. Laptops and other electronic devices will be used at the individual discretion of the teacher.
Cell phones and earbuds/headphones will not be allowed to be used during classroom instruction time. Phones and earbuds/headphones will be put away in a location designated by the teacher and placed in silent mode. Students will have access to their phones and earbuds/headphones outside of classroom instruction time, such as between classes and during lunch, but devices should be put away when students are in the serving line. Failure to follow these procedures will result in a disciplinary referral to the office.
