ABOUT CTE COURSES THAT MRS. HEARRINGTON TEACHES:
STEM is a great introductory course that exposes you to all of the great technological fields: transportation, energy and power, agriculture and biotechnology, manufacturing, architecture and construction, information and communication, and medical technology. I love the variety of this class and the fun, hands-on projects that we do. You students always surprise me with your innovation and creativity! In 2021, I went full circle by teaching Flight & Space as I have always loved aerospace technology, history and development (grew up near a city airport), was in the Civil Air Patrol cadet program for three years in high school, and was Female Cadet of the Year in Civil Air Patrol for the State of Florida my senior year. We have a great time in this class making things fly and "blowing" things up!
I love teaching Green Architecture, as well, because you get to design, measure, and build many things, including a house!
Engineering Essentials is a new PLTW course for me. As PLTW describes it, "Building enthusiasm for and a real understanding of the role, impact, and practice of engineering is a primary goal of the course." As stated above, that is my favorite thing about CTE so this course will be exciting as we have more time to build our skills measuring, using tools like GIS, a caliper, and making many things that will help us see all of the many types of engineering there are that make our technical world go! We'll get to be a part of that!
Digital Publishing Tools is a great way to hone your touch typing skills and ramp up your Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides abilities. Get ready to dig deeper and stop hunting and pecking at those keys like a chicken!
