    Liberty Middle School offers four types of visual art classes; Intro to Visual Art, Visual Art, Advanced Art, and Sculpting/3D Art.

    • Intro to Visual Art is a nine week course open to all students. This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of different art media, art history, and art criticism; while allowing students to explore their personal creativity.
    • Intermediate Art is a nine week class that is open to any student who has already taken Intro to Visual Arts. In this class, students will explore a wide variety of art media, such as drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students will use different types of media to improve their artistic skills and explore their creative side. This class will not only focus on studio art but will also cover art criticism and art history.
    • Sculpture is a nine week course and will focus on three-dimensional art. It is offered to both 7th and 8th graders and there is no prerequisite. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of traditional materials like clay, metal, and paper mache. Students will also have the opportunity to work with some non-traditional materials as well. Students will create both relief and free-standing sculptures.
    • Advanced Art is a semester course offered to 7th and 8th graders who have previously taken Intro to Visual Art and Visual Art at Liberty. Students will work on improving their technical art skills and realism by using a variety of media and art techniques. Students will focus on realism, technique, art history, and art criticism. This class is designed for the true art enthusiast.

    Visual Art

    The following supplies are not required but they are highly recommended for all classes except Sculpture

    1. Colored Pencils (Advanced Art students are recommended to buy Prismacolor Colored Pencils)
    2. Handheld pencil sharpener
