Mr. Barnie Fife
Barnie Fife is a 3.5 year old Black Lab from Service Dogs of Alabama in Hope Hull. He has been through extensive training since he was a puppy. Barnie was part of a program that utilizes the prison system in Florida. He was trained in a one-on-one setting by prisoners who are a part of the Service Dog program. This program helps the prisoner rehabilitate and find a way to become part of society. Dog and prisoner both gain purpose. Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Beth Woodard attended a 5 day training in Hope Hull with Barnie to become his handlers. He was placed in Montgomery Academy while he trained to be a facility dog. He became a part of Madison Elementary on May 15th, 2022. Barnie belongs to Madison Elementary. He will work until retirement and serve as many children as he can.
Barnie comes from a long line of greatness. His mother Maggie is a facility dog, along with his brother Gunner, brother Merlin, sister Lollipop, and sister Foxie. He is driven by the motivation to serve children and help them with stress, anxiety, or any other problems they may face in school.
Barnie lives with his handler Mrs. Stefanie Cook and her family. When not at work, Barnie enjoys his evening walks, sneaking into the bed first thing in the morning, playing fetch in the backyard, and snuggling up during family time. He has a stepbrother (German Shepherd) named Henry who has become his best friend in a very short time.
