Mrs. Julie Vandiver
My name is Julie Vandiver and I am the STEM teacher at Columbia Elementary! I will be working with Kindergarten - Fifth grade students one day a week on various STEM activities and challenges. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This year we will be participating in engaging, hands-on, real world projects that will get the students involved in science, technology, engineering, and math. We will be learning about the engineering and design process, focusing on growth mindset characteristics, as well focusing on the grade level science, math, and digital literacy standards.
I have lived in Madison City since 1993, when my parents relocated here. I am a proud graduate of Liberty Middle School and Bob Jones High School. I am honored to be able to give back to the school system and community that invested so much in me. I started my teaching career at Madison Elementary as a Kindergarten teacher. I then transferred to Harvest Elementary. At Harvest Elementary, I taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, and served as the math and science coach. This will be my fifth year as a STEM teacher for Madison City Schools. It feels good to be back home.
My husband Clint and I have made Madison our home. We have 3 sons that also attend Madison City Schools. In our free time, you will most likely find us outdoors, enjoying sporting events, Jeep rides, and hanging out with family and friends.
STEM education is my heart and passion. It is hard to believe that we are preparing our students for jobs that may not even exist yet. I love that my students get to be creative, innovative, and challenge themselves within my classroom. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to work with your students! I look forward to a great year of learning and growth!
