Wow what a week! We learned a lot of procedures, made friends and had a ton of fun. Thank you for all your help with our many mundane forms! It is my least enjoyable activity as a teacher. I wish I had a secretary and a bookkeeper!
Thank you to those who were able to make the Curriculum Night. I appreciate your understanding that this night was not for conferences. I am available to meet with you most any morning before school, during PE (8:05-8:25 - then I will need to pick students up from PE) or after school. Please allow 24 hours notice for your request. Be on the lookout for an email with the PPt we used attached. I did want to add one piece of info about our Gifted Services. Mrs. Medeiros conducts Second Grade Child Find: All second graders are observed throughout their second grade year using state mandated protocol. She visits our class at least 3 or 4 times each year. The work samples she collects are pieces of the gifted assessment.
Mr. Hill requested that everyone be eligible for Fun Day Friday for the first two weeks. I pulled several tickets this week, but explained that they were practice and no one would lose FDF this week. We will start our regular ticket procedures on Monday. Students will be responsible for informing you why they lost a ticket. They will be bringing a form home called Behavior Homework. The form is self-explanatory and we will review it again next week before anyone has to bring one home. I don't want the students losing instructional time so they will need to fill it out when they get home. Please don't let them tell you, "I don't remember why I lost a ticket" I promise they have discussed it with me in great detail. Please return the form the next school day. Please don't spend a lot of time reprimanding your child for tickets 1-3. It's a time of learning and understanding what is appropriate. If they lose 4 or 5, you will want to have a more lengthy discussion with your child. I try and put a pic of the form in Seesaw when they are coming home. Sometimes, there is just not time for me to do it. This is why is is very important to develop that daily routine of checking folders and returning them back into their book bag for them to bring back to school.
Please check the school calendar/website often for important school-wide info.
