Ms. Makenna Smith

The Advanced Art application window is now open

Students interested in taking advanced art must submit a digital art portfolio. Submit 3 images of your best artwork using the Advanced Art Application Form. You may submit 2 art pieces from an art class at Liberty, but 1 piece must be an art piece made independently outside of school. The images need to be high quality and taken in bright lighting. The portfolio will be assessed on craftsmanship, skill, and creativity. If any image plagiarism is detected, the student will not be allowed to join advanced art. Only original artwork may be submitted. Students must have also completed intro to art and intermediate art at Liberty to join. All submissions must be in by February 20. If you have any questions, please email mrsmith@madisoncity.k12.al.us.

Hello! My name is Makenna Smith and this is my seventh year teaching at Liberty Middle School! I graduated from Athens State University with a Bachelor's degree in Art Education. Making art has, and always will be, my favorite pastime, but I do enjoy other activites such as playing video games, hiking, and reading.

We are going to have a great time in art class this year! We use many different materials in my art classes including acrylic paint, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and many more! For my intermediate and advanced art classes you will need the following supplies:

1. handheld pencil sharpener

2. handheld eraser

3. sketchbook (preferably 8.5x11 or larger)

Please feel free to email me at mrsmith@madisoncity.k12.al.us if you have any questions! I am looking forward to another fantastic school year at LMS!
