GED Exam
As of January 01, 2022, New York State has begun the transition back to the GED Exam as the official assessment for earning your New York State HSE Diploma.
If you have passed parts of the GED between 2002 and 2013, or parts of the TASC between 2014 and 2021, but have not yet earned your HSE diploma, you will receive credit on the new GED for the portions you have previously passed.
BOCES is currently offering the GED exam at the Utica ACCESS Site (508 2nd St) and the Rome ACCESS Site (266 W. Dominick St).
You can register for a free GED account at GED.com. Once you register you will be able to access any age eligibility forms you may need, schedule your exam, and view your results almost immediately after completing the GED Exam.
While most New York State adults lacking a high school diploma are eligible to take the GED without doing any preparation, taking one of our free classes will greatly increase your likelihood of passing the GED exam. Our teachers work with resources designed specifically for GED success; and, when you are ready, you will have access to the HSE practice test that helps us determine your chances of success on the test.
