MOBOCES celebrated regional connections at its 56th Annual Meeting on April 10.
Board members and administrators from component school districts joined MOBOCES leaders for a program focused on our regional work to support schools. A video highlighted the Professional Learning Groups (PLGs) and Regional Committees that MOBOCES facilitates for professional development, networking and alignment among districts. Participants also had an opportunity to learn about the Management Services programs that provide districts with cost-effective administrative, business and operations support.
One of the highlights of the evening was the food! Seniors from the one-year Advanced Culinary Experience (ACE) and juniors and seniors from the two-year Culinary Arts programs prepared and served a formal plated dinner and dessert, and guests also left with take-home boxes of sweets.
Three students from the Vernon Verona Sherrill school district – Rowan Planck, Owen Paz and Nicolas Lavesa-Cesana – provided live entertainment, performing a mix of their own arrangements and pieces from the district’s Strings Concert. Another VVS student, Matthew Pennise, from the ACE class, led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the evening.
In addition to program and budget information, guests heard from MOBOCES board candidates Doug Gustin (Canastota), Cris Amann (Hamilton) and Joe Monfiletto (Stockbridge Valley), who are all running for three-year terms. Component boards will decide later this month whether to approve the MOBOCES Administrative Budget and the board candidates.
