During the 2022-2023 School Year, Rod Paige Middle School launched a CanU Math pilot. A supplementary resource aimed at improving math scores, the students that comprised the bottom 25% MAAP scores in the pilot's 7th grade class showed an amazing 96.7% growth on their third benchmark assessment in March of 2023! June 4-6, Lawrence County School District Board Members and Administrators participated in a Leadership Retreat on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Dr. Scherrine Davenport-Gray and Anthony L. Herbert, Ed.S., presented principles from their book, How to Lead People You Don't Like. The informative sessions were also interactive, with participants creating skits from given hypothetical scenarios. Scenarios ranged from ineffective leadership to troublesome employees to heated meetings. Participants learned principles for effective leadership, self-reflection and conflict resolution.
