National Junior Honor Society
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a junior high school student. Our chapter of NJHS is working hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. These four ideals have been considered as the basis for your selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the total student—one who excels in all of these areas. The standards used for your selection were:
- Scholarship: minimum 3.8 cumulative GPA
- Leadership, Service, Character: as demonstrated by community service and leadership activities
- Citizenship: no N’s or U’s on report cards and no discipline issues on or off campus
Membership, however, is more than an honor. It is an ongoing responsibility and an obligation to continue to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that resulted in your selection. Your membership also carries a responsibility to the chapter. If our chapter to the National Junior Honor Society is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved.
To be a part of our chapter, members must commit to following:
- Service hours both on your own and with the group
- Quarterly meetings
-
-
- Uphold high citizenship on and off campus. This includes, but is not limited to, no N’s or U’s on report cards. Should this become an issue, your membership will be reviewed by the faculty council.
-
-
- Continue academic scholarship by maintaining a 3.8 GPA or higher
