Sealed bids will be received by the Lorain County Joint Vocational School Board of Education as provided in this notice for the Cosmetology HVAC and Dust Collector Project. Questions may be directed to Russell Gayheart, at [email protected] and electronic copies of the Contract Documents, which include additional details, are on file and available for purchase from SE Blueprint Inc., 2035 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114 (216-241-2250).

Bids shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Lorain County JVS Board of Education, ATTN: Jerry Pavlik, Deputy Superintendent, 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074, and plainly marked on the outside "COSMETOLOGY HVAC AND DUST COLLECTOR PROJECT BID". Bids will be received until 2:30 p.m., local time April 10, 2025 and immediately after the deadline the bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Superintendent’s Office Board Room located at 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

A pre-bid conference will be held on April 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. with a site visit to immediately follow at the Lorain County Joint Vocational School located at 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

All bids must include a Bid Guaranty, as described in the Instructions to Bidders. Prevailing wage rates do not apply. No bidder may withdraw its bid within 60 days after the opening; the Board reserves the right to waive irregularities, reject any or all bids, and conduct necessary investigations to determine bidder responsibility.

Career Services

Training in job-seeking skills, resume writing and interviewing techniques is incorporated in our occupational education programs. Lorain County JVS’s Career Services Specialist and the students’ program instructor are available for job placement assistance. Individual program placement data is also available for review on the JVS website. Program placement figures are one area of annual review and evaluation that drives program improvement.

Placement Services are coordinated by the Career Services Specialist at the Lorain County JVS. Placement services including job related advising, job-readiness workshops and job opening identification are offered to all students enrolled in a Council on Occupational Education (COE) approved training program. Placement services are ongoing, provided an individual professionally handles referrals, keeps scheduled interviews and leaves positions with proper notice.

The Career Services Specialist will work with instructors and students to ensure that each student has a professional resume. The Specialist will assist with the identification of available job openings, help with securing externship opportunities as required by specific programs and provide support throughout the placement process.

The Career Services Specialist will use contacts made during Advisory Committee meetings, Lorain County Chamber’s events and other employer-based gatherings to generate job leads and build employer relationships. The Specialist maintains the JVS’s Online Job Board, notifies program instructors of relevant job orders when they are posted, and reminds students and alumni to check the Job Boad for postings via newsletters and social media sites. By staying in contact with Ohio-Means-Jobs (OMJ) staff, Lorain County’s one-stop employment and training system, the Specialist will identify available jobs and externship opportunities and also check social media and websites to remain aware of available jobs for JVS students.

All Adult Career Center students will be encouraged to register as alumni and can opt-in to receiving emails containing information on JVS events and available job openings that are posted at www.lcjvs.com under "Employment". Alumni are also encouraged to register with Ohio-Means-Jobs to expand their job-seeking opportunities.

Strong partnerships between the Lorain County JVS and the business community ensure that adult students are better prepared to meet the demands of the workplace. Many opportunities exist for employers to influence curriculum planning and implementation and participate in hiring students which will improve the training offered at the JVS. Employer involvement ultimately means that employers will continue to have access to a pool of highly-skilled JVS graduates for their workforce.
