    Discussion Items:

    1. Leslie led by informing us of the assembly with speaker Nate Webb. He is a national speaker and we were able to get him to come. He speaks about internet safety.

    2. Review of middle of the year data.

      1. Accadience. Kindergarten data. Early numbers are showing great progress.

      2. Second grade has a large growth year in the amount of words read per minute. Early numbers are also showing good growth.

      3. Third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade are all showing really good growth. Many students are moving up from one quadrant to the next.

      4. As a faculty we will PLC and identify specific students and target areas that can improve.

      5. We will look at growth as well as if they are meeting benchmark expectations.

      6. State goals: 60 percent of students at or meeting typical growth

      7. Canyon goals: Overall 75 percent of our students will be at or meeting typical growth.

      8. Pathways of Progress helps us compare growth for each student in relation to students that started at the same spot at the beginning of the school year.

      9. This helps us celebrate growth and also identify students who need more intensive interventions.

    3. We were unable to look at the state report card from Data Gateway due to the website being down. We will look at this information at a later date.

    4. School Safety Plan

      1. USBE has all the information that is required for schools to consider and implement.

      2. As a council please bring to our attention concerns the community has for school safety.

      3. PBIS -  new COLT letters are coming.

      4. Emily Webb brought up a discussion about the bond and school classroom placement.

      5. Britta Brown brought up a discussion about the locking procedure for the school doors before and after school.

      6. Cami Davis had concerns about Kindergarteners waiting outside of the school to come in. Leslie said we could look into having them come in and have them wait inside somewhere.

      7. Leslie also stated that she will look into a few ways we could alleviate some of the congestion with drop off and pick up. She has also looked into adding a second entry near the first grade and adding a vehicle access road from the west side.

      8. The ladies were happy to inquire with the city about how we can make improvements if we needed to go that route.

      9. Coming up is our 2024-2025 School Year Land Trust Plan

        1. The plan is available Jan.15 and is due within a month from that time.

        2. Each portion of the plan will be evaluated by grade level teams and as a faculty.

        3. Reading goals will be based on grade levels using Pathways of Progress.

        4. Math goals will be based on grade levels using the iReady Diagnostic test.

        5. Leslie has proposed that the goals be very similar to last year's goals.

        6. We will then need to identify how those funds will be allocated.

        7. It is proposed that the majority of those funds will be allocated to having aides to help in classrooms.

        8. Money has also been allocated to the RC program, Media Center and the updating of Chromebooks.

        9. This spring we will likely be looking at a surplus sale for Chromebooks and technology that the district will be sunsetting.

        10. Licenses will be used to purchase iReady, Gizmos and Reflex programs.

        11. We will also continue to pay for teachers to have once a month half day PLC meetings.

        12. TSSA plan is another funding source that allows us to have math aides in all classrooms for all of math time.

        13. New 2024-2025 plan due in March. We will need to meet and vote on that.

        14. PTA is willing to help with an incentive program that can replace RC that will be sunsetting next year. They would love to work with teachers to see how we can help boost independent readers.
