Final Report
2022-2023 School LAND Trust Plan
Goal:
- State your goal. As a school, we will “decrease” the percentage of students in the below-level category on the HMH Growth Measure Assessment by 20% from the beginning of the year to the middle of the year assessment. This assessment is given three times a year to students in 2nd through 6th grades.
Results:
- At the beginning of the year we had 27% of our students receive Below Level or Far Below Level status on the Fall 2022-2023 HMH Growth Measure Assessment. At the winter assessment, we had 17.6% of students in the Below Level or Far Below Level category. We are extremely pleased that we were able to focus on the most at-risk group helping them make gains.
Academic Areas that we focused on were CTE (Career and Technical Education), English/Language Arts, and Library/Media.
We obtained these results by following the Action Steps below.
- Action Steps and Expenditures.
- Paraeducators taught Tier II instruction 160 days for 5 hours a day. Two aides, at approximately $19/hr + benefits will cost $31,405.
- Research-based programs were used for instructing our at-risk students in each grade level. Kindergarteners received instruction in the Early Reading Intervention program for 30 minutes daily. Our 1st and 2nd grade students received Reading Mastery instruction for 30 minutes daily. 3rd grade students received Corrective Reading instruction for 30 minutes daily. Finally, our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students received 30 minutes of Corrective Reading and/or Rewards instruction daily. Classroom teachers and paraprofessionals progress monitored our at-risk students a minimum of once every two weeks.
- Classroom teachers integrated a variety of fluency practices with their classes using the following programs: Fresh Reads, Read Naturally, 6-Minute Solutions, and A-Z Fluency Passages. Teachers will use computer software including: Scholastic/Reading Counts, Starfall, and Follett (approximately $5,389). They also encouraged our school’s goal of reading a minimum of 20 minutes nightly, and reinforced this by integrating Reading Counts for individual student motivation and goal setting. Reading Counts is a computer-based program in which students read books at their individual reading levels and take computer-based reading comprehension tests. Students receive “points” for how they perform on these assessments. Students are able to earn different rewards based on their point totals. Additionally, classroom teachers will integrate the use of Chromebooks into their instructional practices to help with reading and writing practice (130 Chromebooks Hardware $325 X 130 = $42,250; Software $65 X 130 = $8,450, Chromebook Carts $1129 X 2 = $2,258, Locks $100 X 2 = $200; Total = $53,158).
