• Canyon Elementary  SCC Meeting Minutes  

    Meeting held on January 31, 2023 @ 3:45 p.m.

    Meeting convened at 3:51 pm

    Members Present: Cambree Clare, Sarah Potter, Leslie Burt, Jennifer Scott, Lindsey Haslam 

    Members Absent: Becky Johansen, Kylee Lewis, Tailor Tuddenham

     

    Review of Prior Meeting Minutes-Leslie Burt

    Discussion Items: 

    1. Review of School Data:

      1. Review of  middle of the year violin plots displaying Accadience Data by grade level. Data is a composite of fall and winter reading scores. The teaching  faculty spent Friday, January 27th diving in and analyzing our classroom data. These data are displaying good growth across all grade levels in reading scores. 

      2. DATA Gateway: School Report Card was reviewed at an earlier meeting. 

     

    1. USBE School Safety plan from Utah State Board of Education Website

      1. Leslie reviewed what resources we have at Canyon. These include a full time counselor (Crystal Coria), counselors that come in from BRMH and the Wellness Center.

      2. Leslie has put in a bid for security cameras- quoted at $14,000 dollars. Cameras would be inside the building as well as outside.

      3. Leslie reviewed the website and all areas that we are focused on for keeping students safe. 

      4. Please bring any safety concerns to the attention of the council. 

     

    1. 2023-2024 School year’s TRUSTLANDS PLAN

      1. Review of appropriate expenditures- Leslie displayed the site and walked us through the criteria that are taken into account for how the funds should  be spent and where they can’t be spent. The bulk should be spent to meet the academic needs of the school. 

      2. We are currently spending funds to support Reading and Math instruction as well as TSI and ELL growth.  

      3. Chromebooks are being updated and made available for all  students through these funds. 

      4. Leslie is currently working on a final report for last year's plan that will explain how we allocated and spent all funds. This is due by the  END of February.

      5. New plan is due April  for 2023-2024. 

    2. Additional Discussion Items

      1. Would mornings work better? Leslie will put together a GOOGLE form to see how people are feeling about it and to get input.
