River Heights Elementary History
-
A few months into the 1998-1999 school year, students moved into our current River Heights Elementary from the old school just 2 blocks away. At that time, boundaries were changed and the communities of River Heights, Young Ward, College Ward, Mendon and Petersboro sent their children here for school. The configuration was grades K-5 with a Pre-School for developmentally delayed children. For the school year 2008-2009 Mountainside Elementary opened and all the west side students that were attending River Heights began attending this new school. With this change, 100 students from Nibley began attending River Heights as well as 100 students from Providence. Two years later, Heritage Elementary in Nibley opened and the RHE Nibley students began attending their new school. With this change, RHE's boundaries were changed again to take in all the Northwest and Southwest area of Providence. With this change, about 66% of RHE's students came from Providence and the rest, of course, from River Heights. At the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year, our configuration was changed to a K-6 school. With our pre-school students, we have about 575 students who currently attend our school.
