Polar Create New courses
Instructions for Creating new courses and managing student enrollment. Short video below.
1. Open E-Series2. If the Wizard does not open automatically, click the wand icon.
3. Make sure School Information is correct.
4. Add additional Term. Make sure to select the “Current Term” checkbox.
5. Add new Courses for current Term.
a. Use a naming convention that will be easy to use. For example, you might choose to call your courses “2011-12Term2Period3” or “Term2 Jazzercise”.6. Make sure you have selected the correct Teacher for the newly created courses.
b. Course names are sorted alphabetically, so keep that in mind when naming.
c. Set up class schedule days and times.
7. Go to Rosters. You probably have a course called NONE. This was a container to put all students who were not enrolled in a PE course first term. You will FIRST need to select all these students and move then from the right column to the left column. HINT: Select the first student in the list. Scroll to the bottom. HOLD Shift key and select the last student – all student will be selected. Click the left arrow to move the students into the main roster list.
8. To move students into the new courses. Select Rosters, make sure the Course you want is selected in the drop down box above the right hand column.
a. Click on a student’s name in the left hand column, the arrow pointing right will become active.9. Finally, remember to Assign HRMs to the students in your new courses!
b. Click the arrow to move the student from the left column to the right column.
c. You can choose more than one student at a time by holding the “CTRL” key when you left-click a student’s name.
d. You may use the scroll wheel on your mouse to scroll down the list. If you hold CTRL down each time you click a student name, when you finally select the student group, you can click the right arrow once to move all selected students into the course.
a. Select the course from the drop down and click the “Auto Assign” button. Finished!
