Lincoln Charter School meets the rigorous expectations of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study with carefully researched and scaffolded curriculum programs. Of these programs, the Core Knowledge Curriculum is the foundation of all content topics taught at LCS for grades K-8. Founded by Dr. E.D. Hirsch Jr., the Core Knowledge Sequence was created on the philosophy that to achieve academic excellence, greater equity among all people, and higher literacy rates; grades Kindergarten through eighth grade need to teach a coherent, cumulative, and content-specific curriculum. In order to achieve these high expectations we have chosen the following curriculum tools for the following grade levels:
- K – 5: Core Knowledge English Language Arts (includes – Science/Social Studies, Literature, and Phonics)
- 6 – 8: Core Knowledge Sequence (includes: Literature, Science, Social Studies, Math, Art and Music)
- K – 5: enVision Math
- K – 8: LCS Writing Program (includes: opinion/argumentative, expository and narrative writing in all content areas)
