Oakwood
Grade Level - Kindergarten/1st Grade
Cost: $75

Art Club promotes imagination, creativity, and fun! We focus on materials and projects beyond what is learned in art class. 1st Grade Art Club will meet on Mondays from 3:35 - 4:35pm and Kindergarten will meet on Tuesdays. Your child will be provided with 10 meeting dates for the Spring session. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Only the first 50 students signed up will be enrolled. The completion of this form does not guarantee a spot in the club and you will be notified by the club sponsor if your child is one of the 50 students accepted. In addition, we ask that those students who were enrolled in the Fall session do not sign up for the Spring session. Our goal is to allow a new group of 50 students participate for the Spring session. Those students who participated in the Fall Art Club are encouraged to sign-up for one of our other amazing clubs. Fee payment is required before the first day of the club or your student's place will be forfeited. Please note that transportation is not provided and you must pick up your child promptly at 4:35pm.

Kindergarten Students

Come join us for our centers based play club: A creative environment where kids are learning and socializing through play that extends beyond their everyday classroom! Creative Play Club will meet on Thursdays from 3:35 - 4:35. Your child will be provided with 10 meeting dates for the Spring session. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Only the first 25 students signed up will be enrolled. The Fit Club program allows students to participate in a variety of activities that will teach about the importance of health and physical activity. Students will participate in various games and activities that will teach students how to live a healthy lifestyle, while still having fun with their friends! Fit Club will meet on Monday's from 3:35 - 4:35. Your child will be provided with 10 meeting dates for the Spring session. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Only the first 25 students signed up (per grade level) will be enrolled. The completion of this form does not guarantee a spot in the club and you will be notified by the club sponsor if your child is one of the 25 students accepted. Join us for Sign Language Club on Thursdays from 3:35-4:35pm!. Ms. Nicole Aubuchon ([email protected]), sign language interpreter, from Oakwood’s Deaf & Hard of Hearing program, will teach beginning sign language using personal instruction, videos, activities and games. Your child will be provided with 10 meeting dates for the Spring session. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Only the first 15 students (per grade level) signed up will be enrolled. The completion of this form does not guarantee a spot in the club and you will be notified by the club sponsor if your child is one of the 15 students accepted. In addition, we ask that those students who were enrolled in the Fall session do not sign up for the Spring session. Our goal is to allow a new group of 15 students the opportunity to participate for the Spring session. River Valley is excited to welcome Art Club members for the SPRING session. Join us to create, have fun, and explore new art mediums. Students will enhance their knowledge and understanding of the arts through a variety of fun and creative activities.
This club will meet after school for one hour on Mondays, from 3:35-4:35 in the cafeteria.
Meeting dates are January 22, January 29, February 5, February 12, Febuary 26, March 4, March 11, March 18, March 25, April 8
We respectfully ask that you can commit to all Art Club sessions. Sessions will be in the Cafeteria at River Valley from 3:35-4:35. Student must be picked up after the club, there is no bus service.
Registration for the Spring session will be opened on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. .
Please note that no refunds can be given.

The goal of the program is to have students participate in a variety of activities that will teach about the importance of health and physical activity. Spring Garden Club

Sign up opportunities will be available on January 16th at 6:00pm for the Spring session.
The purpose of the garden club is to expose the students to the process of gardening from planting the seeds to harvesting the vegetables. Students will be working with soil and gardening tools and planting in the garden beds at River Valley.
There is a $50 fee for this activity. After registration, the $50 fee will be posted to Skyward. Please note that no refunds can be given once the club begins.

Boys and Girls

Early Act is a club for second and third graders at River Valley that is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lemont-Homer Glen. Students volunteer their time and talents for worthwhile causes that impact individuals at the school, community, and worldwide levels. Students are encouraged to be helpful and caring citizens through character building activities and leadership opportunities.
The club meets for an hour after school once a month.

If interested in joining, students should complete the paper application that will be distributed soon.
Due to size constraints, only two students from a classroom will be accepted.
There is no registration fee for this club.

We are excited to annouce our new club- SPRING Floor Hockey. Mr. Tomasek is the club sponsor. There is a limit of 25 students. The fee is $50.00. Sign up for SPRING Hockey Club will be on January 16th at 6:00 pm. A link for registration will be posted in the newsletter and also on the district webpage. Hockey Club will be on Wednesdays this year.

Students will have an opportunity to practice and improve on fundamental skills of basketball while also nurturing a healthy spirit of competition, sportsmanship and teamwork!

The Fall 2023 Session of Art Club will be held on Thursdays from 3:20-4:20 p.m. in the Art Room.
Art Club is a space for young artists who wish to expand upon their artistic skills. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of mediums through a multitude of projects. We will explore concepts in painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. Students will collaborate with their peers, push their creativity, and grow in their artistic talent.
Sign up will be via a Google Form in the Parent Newsletter.

Board Game Club is a great way to meet new people or get together with friends. There are a variety of games to choose from or you can share your favorite game from home.

In cheer club, your student will learn cheers, jumps, a dance, stunts, basic tumbling, and a routine that will be performed for parents and potential assemblies! **More information about the performance will come out at a later date.
Please wear athletic shorts/leggings and a t-shirt. Tighter gym shoes with socks must also be worn and hair must be tied back. No jewelry please! In addition, please bring a water bottle so we don’t have long lines at the water fountains.

Gardening club will have 10 sessions starting on September 19th, and go all the way into the first week of December! We will not be having club on Halloween and Thanksgiving break!
We will be learning and managing our Central garden outside, as well as do plenty of fun gardening activities to help our school grow.

We are very excited to introduce our Cross-Country Program to all of our Central Students. The program will be run by Mr. Joe Targosz, the Central School Physical Education Teacher. The Cross-Country Program will allow students an opportunity to further their participation in physical activities outside of the Physical Education setting. Students will have an opportunity to race against one another 2 times throughout the program. Students will compete in a 1-mile race at the beginning and end of the program. The goal is to show students that through hard work and dedication, major improvements will happen!

Are you interested in meeting new people while doing crafts? Crafty Cardinals is the place to be! At Crafty Cardinals, we will do various paper crafting activities. We will meet on Thursdays after school from 3:20-4:20. A schedule will be shared upon registration. We are looking forward to beginning this club at Central and hope you can join us!

In this club, we will teach the kids how to use math and reading to play the game, how to identify fake cards, how to keep their cards in good condition and all the details they should consider when trading so both parties are happy with the trade. Once they are taught how to trade, with parents permission, we will have some supervised trading during the club.
