Mission Statement
Our library is:
-
A welcoming, comfortable environment conducive for maximum student and staff learning and collaboration.
-
An all-encompassing entity for encouraging students and staff to become lifelong learners, as well as critical thinkers.
-
An encouraging body committed to facilitate strategies that stimulate student centered learning in academics, research and technology.
It is my vision that a superior library media program should be the heart of the school where everyone feels comfortable and takes ownership for all the knowledge cultivated there.
Student Checkout and Classes
The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. Students visit the library every week for library lessons and to checkout books (please see schedule below). Students can also visit individually as needed, with their teacher's permission.
Kindergarten students are permitted to checkout one book per week. First grade students begin the year checking out one book and begin checking out two books at the second 9-weeks. Students in second, third, fourth and fifth grades may checkout two books per week. Students may not checkout any books unless the previous ones are returned or renewed.
Library Activities
The library sponsors a book fair in the fall and a Read-a-Thon is held in the spring. The proceeds from these activities provide funding to purchase a variety of titles to add to the existing collection and to fund reading incentive programs. The library also sponsors the Birthday Book Club.
Volunteers
Please email Mrs. Bromonsky if you are interested in volunteering in our library.
