    The Kiona-Benton City School District Food Service Staff recognizes the importance good nutrition plays in the education of our students. Our goal is to serve top quality, nutritious meals in a pleasant environment.

    Policy No. 6700 - Wellness Policy Procedures

    FREE STUDENT MEALSEvery Kiona Benton City enrolled student is eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch for the 2023-24 school year. The program allows for one complete meal for each student. This means that if a student brings their lunch from home and wants milk or a second breakfast or lunch, the student’s account will be charged according to the a la carte pricing. Free meals are made possible by the federally funded program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Although there is no application for free meals,  the district does send out the Family Income Survey. This form is sent to many of our families in July and requests household income information so that Kiona Benton City School District is eligible to receive state funding for important educational programs that our students are entitled to. If your family receives this form, we encourage you to fill it out and return it as soon as possible. 

    FAMILY INCOME SURVEYQUALIFY FOR REDUCED/FREE SPORT, ASB, ETC. FEES Please take a moment to complete the Family Income Survey. The survey captures and ensures the district/school receives state funding for education programs..Although student meals are free this school year through the CEP, families must still meet household income guidelines to qualify their students for reduced/free sports, ASB, etc. fees. We no longer collect Free and Reduced-Price Applications every year, instead, we must collect the Family Income Survey. This survey helps us collect household information for all students attending CEP schools. Without this information, Kiona Benton City School District could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to.
