Principal's Message
Welcome to the beginning of an amazing school year! As summer quickly draws to a close, we begin looking ahead to the many exciting events already planned for the 2019-2020 school year here at Peterson. Our PTA is in full swing planning our Fall Festival, 100 Mile Club, A/R Parties, Whale Tales, Step-It-Up, and so much more. The Peterson staff is ready to encourage, nurture and guide all of our students in this time of growth and we truly value the home-to-school partnership.
Our Smarter Balanced (SBAC) assessment scores are in and Peterson students performed well with 66% of 3rd graders, 72% of 4th graders, and 81% of 5th graders meeting or exceeding standards in Language Arts. In math, 66% of 3rd graders, 58% of 4th graders, and 71% of 5th graders met or exceeded standards. The academic success of all our students requires the dedicated work of every single staff member on campus in addition to the tireless commitment of each student’s family and community support network.
Academic achievement requires a team effort of staff and parents. In an effort to strengthen this team, we work diligently to keep you informed as to your student’s progress, school events, and support services. To that end, please ensure that all contact information remains current throughout the year by logging in to your Aeries.net account and updating your student’s information any time there are changes.
As you have noticed by now, security fencing has now been installed across the front of our campus and the final gate installations will occur shortly. We ask you to work with us in ensuring student safety is everyone’s number one priority. Over the next few weeks, we will be refining our ingress/egress flows with parent/student pickup and drop-offs. Additional information will be distributed as it becomes available. To our amazing crew of parent and community volunteers, ALL campus visitors MUST enter through the front office and MUST be checked in and out via the Raptor system. Thank you in advance for your dedication and cooperation, we simply couldn’t do it without you!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. You may stop by or call the office to set up an appointment or simply email me directly at kjohnson@hbcsd.us
