Hughes Springs ISD School Board

Van Hall, President of the Board, was elected to the Board in May 2010. He and his wife, Donna have 4 children that are HSISD graduates, Mandi, McXie, Hayden, and Hunter. Van is employed by AEP.

Billy Willis, Vice-President of the Board, was elected to the Board in May 2011. He is employed at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in Texarkana. He and his wife Tiffany are the parents of Kaycee and Kaylee, both HSISD graduates.

Phillip Chapman, Secretary of the Board, is the owner of East Texas Investments. His wife, Melanie, is Vice President of Human Resources for Pilgrim Bank. They have two children Jessica who is a HSISD graduate and Jason who is currently enrolled in HSISD.

Robert Johnson joined the board in 2020. Robert is the Shop Foreman for Innovations Through Design. Robert is married to Kristen, who is an HSHS graduate. Robert and Kristen have two children, Shae’Leigh and Kylar, both who attend HSISD.

Scott Nelson, Elected to board in 2018. Scott is the Northeast Texas account manager for ESR Motor Systems. He and his wife Susan have three children Stefanie Moffett, Samantha Smith, and Shea Nelson who are HSISD graduates.

Matt Golden is a HSISD alumnus with a business in Texarkana, the Matthew Golden Law Firm. He and his wife Leah, who works as a staff attorney at the U. S. District Court, live in Hughes Springs with their children, Noah, Aubrey and Eli, who are student Mustangs in Hughes Springs Schools.

Deanna Putman is a retired educator who worked in various roles in education. She worked for NTCC for 13 years as a Coordinator working with at-risk youth in Hughes Springs High School as well as directing the after school program for 3 years. DeAnna is a 1979 graduate of Hughes Springs High School. Her husband Mike is also a graduate of Hughes Springs High School and is a local businessman. Their two daughters are Hughes Springs alumni. Amy is a third generation educator and Erin works in Business. DeAnna and Mike have two grandchildren currently attending Hughes Springs Elementary, Jack and Allison.
